Exhaust replacement for Volvo 850R

I have a Volvo 850R which I am in the process of upgrading. Although
fast, it still has a little too much of "my father’s ride" quality left.

Anyone have any ideas on replacing the stock 2.5" exhaust with a larger
3" one.

Performance parts for Volvo seem to be extremely rare. Replacing
the stock 2.5" exhaust with another 2.5" exhaust does not seem, at least
on the surface, to be
the way to go.

One suggestion, from a local tube bender, is to replace the cat and
exhaust system with a new 3" cat and a custom bent 3" exhaust/muffler.
Assuming that the
restrictive stock downpipe is replaced, this seems to be the only alternative
now. Suggestions/comments?

    Try the info at "www.cs.earlham.edu/~davel/volvo/volvo-ppl.txt".
Here are two from that list that I have read favorable comments
    on:

Group Six Performance, 1634 South Research Loop Ste. 150,
          Tucson, AZ 85710
         (800) 722-1809, (602) 749-1809; Frank,
IPD, PO Box 20339, Portland, OR 97220
         (800) 444-6473, (503) 257-7500 new parts, acces. and perf.
          parts

The phone numbers might be old, but try 800-555-1212 and you
could get updates. Both of these companies have upgrades for
    850R and T5-R models. Enjoy.

I’m enjoying my stock ’95 850 Turbo wagon with factory sports
    suspension, as is. …..Rich
