Is Dinan part that bad ?

All,
I have posted a article last week regarding upgrade my 95 BMW325is with
Dinan parts (chip, airbox, exhaust and throttle-body). So far all the
responses are that Dinan part is not worth the money.

Does anyone out there have put in all the parts and is willing to give me
your comment?

Thanks.

Re: Seriously considering '96 Cobra

Like you said, it’s really a matter of personal preference.  BUT, if you
haven’t driven an LT1-powered Camaro or Firebird recently you might be
pleasantly surprised.  The tighter suspension and more responsive
steering of the F-body cars gives them much more of a sports-car feel
(like your Probe GT) than the Mustang.  I drive a ’95 Camaro Z28 and of
course I’m partial to the F-body cars, but the Mustang is also very
nice.  You can’t go wrong either way.

SU carb needles needed

Howdy All,

I’m looking for a pair of "SM" needles for the SU carbs in my ’71 Datsun
240Z. Does anyone out there know where I can buy them?

BTW please reply by private e-mail, I don’t check this newsgroup much.

Thanx in advance!

re: engine management 1993 RX 7

Jeff (Witzer):

Unlike other writers, I’m not so sure that the problem lies at the feet
of your local Mazda dealer.  I noted at the bottom of your post "Pettit
Turn Key Terror".  Most modifications mean that you’re the one
reponsible for changes in the functioning of the car’s systems.  The
dealer’s techs only have the diagnostics made available by the
manufacturer: you’ll have the be the expert in any case!  If you treat
the techs with consideration and respect, they’ll usually be very
helpful, at least if our experience is any indicator.

Your symptoms indicate possible trouble in two areas of the engine’s
functions which possibly affects a third.  Either you have a wastegate
problem, a vacuum leak and/or the engine’s computer is affected.  The
engine’s output seems to be affected at its greatest load.  The
wastegate is a straightforward device and under certain conditions it
seems to be performing as expected.  (We’re assuming that the guage is
giving you an accurate reading, but your experience seems to confirm
that it is.)

I’m wondering, therefore, if you still have a vacuum leak that’s
undetected by checking the hoses.  If it’s been removed and "blue goo"
was used to replace it, then a gasket was used, you may have a problem.
I’d begin by carefulling checking all gaskets and mating surfaces, using
a vacuum gauge to test them, then road test the car with the gauge in
place.  If you feel these areas check out OK, it’s wise to fit an
exhaust temperature gauge, a pyrometer, to note whether the engine is
running in a lean state under certain conditions.  Running lean under
certain conditions will affect the computer, wastegate, fuel flow, etc.
If you’ve modified the car, also check back through the modifications to
possibly pinpoint the problem.

Learning about high performance cars

To anyone out there….

I would really like to learn about high performance cars. I am interested in
buying used car and making it into a high performance vehicle. I’m just
finishing up a 2 year motive power course, so I know the basics but it’s a
very different world in high performance. Even the lingo in the high
performance magazines such as Hot Rod confuses me. I would really like to be
educated in this field and I’m not sure where to turn. I would like to get
involved with racing but I know very very little about it.

Any help would be so appreciated.

Avanti Info

Don’t know if this is the appropriate list for this subject. Just bought a 63 Avanti R2 in ‘running’ condition
and and desperately searching for info on it. I know it’s supposed to have a 289 ci engine which I assume
is a Ford, with a Paxton supercharger. It presently houses a 400 ci Chevy police engine. Have ordered the
Avanti book and the Brooklands roadtest but can find no parts or repair manuals. Anybody have any sources?

know that only 500 were made and need to know how to tell what a true

Help with 95 BMW325isA, DINAN and others

Hi,
I just got a BMW 325isA with the spot packages and I am planning to
modify it to a street legal race car spec.

So far I got the DINAN catalog and their parts seem resonable price.
How good is their stuff?

Also, does anyone have any other recommandation?
