We have Toyota Corolla GTi with a 4AGE motor which we want to get more
power out of the engine. It currently has:
4-2-1 extractors
2 1/2" exhaust with dynomax muffler
flowed head with backcut vallves adn 3 angle valve job. Head has been
skimmed 30 thou to raise compression to 11:1
cold air box (worth 1kw on the dyno) and uniflow filter.
Power is 108HP at the wheels, up from around 79 when we started.
The car has to remain streetable. It is still running the standard
engine computer and it is running lean as there is no more adjustment. Has
anyone had any experiences with aftermarket units?
Anyone have any other suggestions?

Please can one of you experienced race car mechanics answer a question we
have a difference of opinion over. Scenario: club circuit racing, set
tyre pressures at eg 28psi all round cold, do midday practise, check hot
tyre pressures at 34 all round, car stands in hot sun all afternoon, check
tyre pressures at 5pm before race, they are about 30psi on shady side, 32
psi on sunny side. What adjustments, if any, should be made?
We should know the answer, but we don’t usually get such hot weather over
here! Any info from you pros who’ve checked this out would be much
appreciated.

Does anyone know of a 5-speed transmission that will bolt onto a Pinto 2000
engine ? Also are there any high-perf heads available for this motor ?

Scientists publish their experiments and ensure others can DUPLICATE them.
Otherwise, they have no credibility. What’s wrong with duplicating and
verifying the test??? Why wouldn’t you want the test be verified if it
can be verified??? Why didn’t STE1 take my offer to verify it and post
the results??? it could only help his credibility, unless the test can
not be duplicated.

I have gone hungry. I worked 13 odd jobs to support myself thru high school
and two college degrees. For the longest time, I didn’t know whether I will be
homeless the next week or month. I am one of those immigrant who digs himself out of
a hole by doing honest hard work. I respect people who work honestly and put food on
their table for their family. But I detest people who watches only their own
wallet and have no regard for other people’s well being.
You and STE1 get no sympathy from me because you totally disregard good science
and disregard others’ well being by misinforming them and possibly leading them
into a financial fiasco. If you want me to leave you alone, you need to find a
more ethical way of earning your living. I’d gladly take the food off of your
table if it means keeping food on honest people’s table. and I will be proud
doing so!!!

I’ve got a ’73 Ford Maverick "Grabber".
-302 bored .030 w/ Flat Top Forged Pistons & Rods
-Windsor heads 64cc,2.02/1.60 valves
-CraneCams Energizer Cam 284 Duration/512 Lift
-Wieland X-Cellerator Series Manifold
-Carter 4bl. 650cfm Competition Carb
-MSD 6A Ignition
-Dynomax 2 1/2" exhaust w/ a set of Magnum Glasspacks
-C4 tranny with a B&M Holeshot 2400 Converter
-a 9" Rear with 3.50 gears
-The whole car was also lowered 1"
-All engine work has been done within the last 9 months
-tranny was done 3 months ago.
-3.73 gears coming in about a week….

Hi,
I’ve recently re-built the engine in my 76 Corvette and am looking
for a decent exhaust system that won’t rob power. Right now there is
no catalytic-converter and I realize I’m gonna have to have one (two).
The exhaust is presently pipes off the exhaust manifolds straight back
to the mufflers.
What I would really like is to keep the dual exhaust and have a
catalytic-converter in each pipe. Has anyone had experience with this
type configuration.
And if the above is not possible, what are good alternatives.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I hope that I am posting this in the proper area,if not I’m sure I’ll hear about it. I am looking for some information on rear spoilers an the downforce created by them. This is for use on a dirt track modified (IMCA) on a short 1/4 mile track. We can us
e a spoiler with a 6" max. vertical height on the extreme rear of the body. I would like to know the downforce at 30-40 m.p.h. as in exiting a corner. I realize it would also depend on the angle but what angle woukd be correct? I would appreciat any info
rmation I can get on the subject.
